  • Overview of common nodal joints for 3D modular building blocks and individual structural elements

The overview of the existing horizontal and vertical nodal joints for 3D modular building blocks and plane elements has shown that tongue and groove is the most commonly used connection today. Other types of module attachments are also discussed. Special attention is paid to a modular integrating system encompassing a design description. It is emphasized that the efficiency of modular construction depends, among others, on nodal joints used therein.

  • On the issue of the building systems life cycle stages in the context of the principles of information modeling

The article discusses the basic principles of information modeling of building systems that underlie BIM technology, and emphasizes the importance of their interaction, since the correctness and efficiency of the BIM process depends on this. The traditional and some basic curves characteristic of the life cycle of goods (products), which have found application in marketing theory, is given. It is noted that each stage of the life cycle of a construction object requires in-depth study and detailed study, since the analysis of scientific publications and the current regulatory document on information modeling revealed their contradiction to each other in some positions.

Keywords: information modeling, principles, life cycle curves, capital construction object, normative document.

  • Typical defects and damages that reduce the operational reliability of steel vertical tanks

The importance of ensuring reliable operation of steel vertical tanks is emphasized. Based on the analysis of a number of scientific publications and regulatory documents, the most characteristic defects are presented in tabular form by groups, the combination of which determines the choice of the method of overhaul or reconstruction of tanks. In accordance with the data given in the table, the most common methods of overhaul and reconstruction of steel vertical tanks are considered. It is noted the need to develop organizational and technological solutions based on information technology, using servers for monitoring through the GLONASS / GPS systems, which will allow, within the framework of monitoring, to detect defects and damage to structural elements in a timely manner during the operation stage and ensure their elimination in order to increase the residual life of vertical steel tanks .

  • Replacement of envelope structures made of piece materials and building-in floor and ceiling slabs for reconstruction of industrial buildings

The focus of attention is on the possibility of replacing exterior envelope structures for reconstruction of industrial buildings with the aim of increasing the plant areas. The operating procedures are shown alongside the material characteristics ensuring energy efficiency of reconstruction. The paper underlines that the justification of the optimal choice of a process setup / technology solution is an important stage in building reconstruction.

  • Energy efficient reconstruction of construction system at various lifecycle stages

The paper justifies the relevance and reviews the issues of energy efficient reconstruction of a construction system at various lifecycle stages, underlining that reconstruction needs to be viewed as a separate phase of the property lifecycle. Despite the fact that construction systems are static, all lifecycle stages are dynamic and require complex control. The diagrams are provided to show the building’s lifecycle and the process of stagewise supervision of energy efficient reconstruction by the client.

Keywords: lifecycle, stage, phase, target system, process layout/structure, performance monitoring

  • Development of Organizational and Technological Solutions for Strengthening Rein forced Concrete Columns in the Reconstruction of Buildings and Structures

The paper highlights the importance of the contingency-focused development of organizational and technological solutions for strengthening reinforced concrete columns based on multiple criteria. The main criteria for optimal technology selection are identified, and the algorithm for the performance of works is presented. The complexity of selection unaided by computerprograms is brought to notice.

Keywords: strengthening of columns, multiple criteria, optimal technology selection, structuring, expert reviews, performance algorithms

  • Making formwork systems of porous artificial wood

The paper underlines the need for use of composite and nano-materials in place of natural materials, which is explained by depletion of global resources and increasing environmental pollution. This is why the focus is currently shifting toward the use of a composite material – porous artificial wood (PID-IV) – developed by the Irkutsk State University for making framework systems required to strengthen rectangular structural elements of buildings and structures. The framework system in question has a deck made of PID-IV. Further, the structural test was carried out in line with the effective regulatory documents, and the use of the suggested framework system was substantiated.

  • "Overview of trenchless pipeline reconstruction technologies. Part 1. Non-destructive methods "

The paper summarizes the most common trenchless technologies among the variety of pipeline reconstruction methods which are implemented without destroying old pipelines. It demonstrates the key benefits of the methods under review as well as their principal deficiency. The significance of these technologies, according to the author, is associated with environmental safety and economic efficiency they assure for construction works performed under unstable soil conditions as part of dense urban development. Special attention is given to such relining methods as Swagelining, Upex, Rolldawn, and U-Liners, and more light is shed on innovative technologies, such as GFK-liner (Germany) and Insituform (Great Britain). It is emphasized that the pipeline relining methods discussed in the paper, along with their undisputable strengths, have certain deficiencies, primarily related to a decreased throughput capacity of pipelines. This is why the need for use of nano and composite materials to line the inner space of a reconstructed pipeline should be made a priority.

  • Overview of trenchless pipeline reconstruction technologies. Part 2. Destructive methods

This part of the paper focuses on individual areas of survey of trenchless technologies for renovation of pipeline systems. It underlines the relevance of the technology and maintains that the choice of any specific work method should be based on economic as well as environmental and technological criteria. It describes certain performance techniques and deals more closely with the pipeline replacement methods featuring hydraulic rod-type destroyer, pneumatic splitter, and rope winch. It is noted that the technologies in question help save material and labor resources and reduce economic costs through optimized timelines and earthwork scopes. Also, trenchless technologies, despite their technological constructability and environmental friendliness are shown to require further improvement in order to minimize adverse impacts on the lithosphere and atmosphere.
