Analysis of factors affecting the choice of mode of transport for freight transportation in Russia
Incoming article date: 18.11.2015The article includes analysis of the freight market in the Russian Federation. There are factors that influence the choice of transport for the cargo transportation. The author reviewed the cost structure of road transport. The article presents the method of calculating the cost of railway transportation and the cost of rolling stock. The author reveals factors affecting the cost of rolling stock. The analysis of the competitiveness of rail and road transport. As a result, concluded that the need to develop measures to improve the competitiveness of rail transport, to improve the reliability and continuity of rolling stock`s providing to consigners, as well as the construction of a model where the JSC ""Russian Railways"" acts as a regulator of the availability of rolling stock on the network.
