  • Electric field in the surface layer of the atmosphere: measurements and prediction of its variations

This article discusses the issue of the features of measuring and predicting changes in the surface electric field strength in the atmosphere. The results of measurements of the atmospheric electric field strength are presented. The possibilities of forecasting changes in the surface electric field strength, including the use of numerical models, as well as the use of measurement results as an indicator of dangerous weather phenomena, are considered. The prospects of using the prediction of variations in the surface electric field intensity to predict adverse weather events and the importance of monitoring the intensity of the atmospheric electric field for understanding global climate change processes and the impact of the electric field on human health and the environment are discussed. For the research, a model was created that allows predicting electric field variations based on meteorological data. The developed neural network has shown good results. It is demonstrated that the use of neural networks can be an effective approach for predicting the parameters of the electric field of the surface layer of the atmosphere. In further research, it is planned to expand the measurement area by including additional parameters such as temperature, pressure and humidity in the analysis, as well as using more complex machine learning models to improve the accuracy of forecasts. In general, the results show that machine learning models can be effective in predicting variations of the electric field in the surface layer of the atmosphere. This can have practical applications in various fields such as aeronautics, meteorology, geology and others. Further research in this area contributes to the development of new methods and technologies in the field of electric power and communications and to improving our knowledge about the nature of the impact of atmospheric electrophysical phenomena on the environment and human health.

  • Overview of the Internet of Things Security Threats

The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) was introduced by Kevin Ashton at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1998. The vision of the concept is that objects, “things”, embrace each other and, therefore, see IoT, in which each object has its own individual volume identity and can interact with other objects. Internet objects can make a big difference in size from small to very large. The Internet of Things is turning into ordinary products such as cars, buildings, and machines into smart devices, connected objects that can communicate with people, applications, and others with devices. In the article, we observe the widespread use of the Internet in large cities and its impact on various industries. The paper discusses the security threat of the Internet of Things, resulting in security recommendations.

  • Intensification of the natural water purification process using the flocculant

The article discusses the issues of increasing the efficiency and reliability of the water supply system on the example of gravity water treatment plants. In this study, some of the measures for the reconstruction of structures on the daily regulation pools and introduced new technologies for water purification are considered. The use of a new technology has been studied, which involves the use of local coagulants in the form of aluminum sulfate together with a high-molecular synthetic anionic flocculant of the «POLY SEPAR AN 34 TW» type and clarification of water in sedimentation tanks equipped with horizontal thin-layer modules. As a result of the study, it was identified that the use of anionic flocculant of the «POLY SEPAR AN 34 TW» type, which has a flocculating and disinfecting ability in water treatment processes, is highly effective. Moreover, the use of a flocculant of the «Poly Separ» type for surface water purification at a dose of 0.5 - 1.0 mg/l, along with a decrease in turbidity and color, it ensures the removal of such impurities as iron, heavy metals, a decrease in the total microbial number from 10000 - 1000000 to 100 cells/ml at the filtration stage, since «Poly Separ» has a prolonged bactericidal effect.

  • Modular Structures and Energy Efficient Reconstruction of Modern Construction Systems

The paper focuses on energy efficient reconstruction of construction systems by means of their upward extension using modular spatial structures. It is further noted that the existing contradictory definition of the term “modular structures” necessitates classifying modular structural elements by spatial dimension, type and size, weight, degree of prefabrication, constructability and environmental safety. A list of the world’s leading manufacturers is provided featuring modular spatial structures to be used in the construction of new buildings and reconstruction of existing buildings. Also, the paper underlines the importance of using added stories in making modular roof structures of lightweight metallic structures (LMS) and lightweight thin-wall steel structures (LTSS) and provides an overview of the main types of modules, pointing out the key benefits of modular structures.

  • Investigation and optimization of the gas-powder flow within an off-axis nozzle of the laser technological complex

Gas-powder dynamics within the off-axis nozzle of the Precitec YC52 laser cladding head (Germany) has been studied using the original Tepler shadow setup, the high-speed tracing system and the laser Doppler anemometer. The length of the laminar part of the gas-powder flow has been optimized for variety of the transport and shielding gas flow, as well as the diameter of the orifice of cyclone. Powder jet at the nozzle’s outlet follows the carrier gas flow structure. In case of 4 mm nozzle’s diameter, the powder stream separates into two stable vortex structures near the surface of the substrate, causing significant losses of powder particles (about 2/3 of the total powder mass) within the melting zone, which finally reduces the efficiency of the deposition process and the powder utilization. Practical recommendations on the application of the optical diagnostic to optimize gas-powder jets for laser cladding are provided.

  • Fire-retardant and high-temperature (oxidation-resistant) vermikulitobetonnye composites with the application of pumice and pumice

The application of the fire-retardant heat-insulating coatings the application of light fillers is considered the effective method of fire protection of structures. Work is dedicated to the development of the new effective cement fire-retardant and high-temperature (oxidation-resistant) vermikulitobetonnykh composites with the use of ashes and pumice. It is revealed, that the application of construction gypsum and lime as the agent of the concealed hydraulic activity of pumice it made it possible to considerably reduce the expenditure of cement without reduction in the strength of fire-retardant composite. By wood by that saponified 0,1- 0,3% of the mass of cement the expenditure of water for the mixture is reduced during the introduction of resin, the density of vermikulitobetona decreases by 40-50 kg/m3. Is investigated the influence of the parameters of fiber reinforcement by basaltic fibers on the properties of vermikulitobetona. Are revealed the high fire-retardant properties of the developed fibrovermikulitobetonnykh composites. It is established that the addition of the volcanic pumice of the fraction d< of 0,16 ppm 30% of the mass of cement significantly increases the high-temperature (oxidation-resistant) properties of concrete block with a simultaneous increase in the bending strength and without noticeable reduction in the compressive strength. The replacement of the part of the volcanic pumice by the distended vermiculite makes it possible to reduce the average density of the vermikulitobetonnogo composite and to increase their high-temperature (oxidation-resistant) properties.
