  • Comparison of carbon black granulation methods on a laboratory granulator

The article discusses the main methods of carbon black granulation, and compares the results with an existing industrial installation. The granulation process is necessary to convert powdered carbon black into homogeneous granules in order to simplify its further transportation and use. Despite the wide variety of granulation methods, there are problems with the uniformity of granules, equipment wear, and the formation of stagnant zones. As a result of the experiments conducted on the laboratory granulator described in the article, photos of the results are provided. Each of the methods used has a description of stagnation zones, which allows us to conclude that the most efficient method is to convert powdered carbon black into granules.

  • Filtration calculation of heterogeneous earth dams on impermeable foundation

In the practice of hydraulic engineering construction, especially in mountainous and foothill areas, quite often there are conditions under which it is economically advantageous to build a dam reservoir from heterogeneous local materials with different filtration characteristics. As a rule, in such areas near the site of the future dam there is not enough homogeneous construction soil that meets all the requirements. However, it is possible to find soils that differ in water permeability, but in sufficient quantity for the construction of the body of this dam.

  • Computer Modeling and Improvement of Extrusion Tooling

This paper presents a simulation of square bar extrusion using the finite element method in QForm software. The sequence of simulation stages is described and verified using an example of extruding AD31 alloy. The geometry of the extrusion tool (die) was improved to reduce material damage and eliminate profile distortion. It was found that rounding the corners and adding a calibrating section to the die provides improved performance. The analysis of metal heating from plastic deformation is also provided. The study highlights the importance of computer modeling for optimizing tools and increasing the efficiency of the metal forming process. Specifically, the initial and final die geometries were compared to assess the impact on product properties. Recommendations are provided for using simulation in the practice of developing metal forming process technologies. The benefits of using QForm software over alternative solutions are highlighted, including access to a comprehensive material database and robust technical support. The improved die design resulted in reduced plastic deformation and improved product quality. Finite element analysis significantly accelerates the development and testing of tools, providing the ability to develop optimal designs that account for various factors.

  • Qualitative study of the emulsion layer formation model

    • Abstract

The article discusses the basic model of the formation of an emulsion layer on a rotating cylinder. Special attention is paid to the study of the influence of various parameters on the internal characteristics of the emulsion formation process. A mathematical description of the displacement layer is given and functional dependencies between the parameters characterizing the emulsion formation process are derived. Based on experimental data, the qualitative influence of "internal" and "external" factors on the formation of the emulsion layer has been studied. The result of the study were graphs, analyzing which the following conclusions can be drawn. An increase in the viscosity of the emulsion leads to a decrease in such parameters as the boundary of the fracture region of a more viscous liquid layer adjacent to the surface of the rotating cylinder, the viscosity of the emulsion in the transition layer, but there is an increase in the consumption of the emulsion. It is also established that the growth of the complex of "external" parameters leads to a decrease in all internal parameters during the formation of the emulsion. The research conducted in the article will help to take into account the obtained dependencies when calculating the operating and design parameters of devices.

  • Computational study of the deformability parameters of truss structures using wood

Determining the deformability of the bearing structures of the coating, as an indicator of the use of the stiffness of the cross-section of the elements, is an urgent task, which is aimed at solving the current work. The purpose of the article is a comparative calculation of frame structures under the assumption of a different coating truss solution. The following types of load-bearing roof trusses should be considered: segment truss, trapezoidal truss, triangular truss. The calculation of frames using wood as load-bearing structures for the total effect of permanent and short-term loads causing maximum vertical deformations is given. In this paper, the coefficients of using the rigidity of truss structures using wood are determined and the dependence of the stiffness value on the type of outline of the coating truss is established. A comparison of the calculation results with the normative maximum permissible values allowed us to establish the most effective type of outline of the wooden roof truss.
